Event Description

It's no secret that women's ownership, especially for women of color, has not always been an easy dream to accomplish. From lack of resources, start-up capital, and loans, to gender discrimination in male-dominated sectors, and limited access to networks and government contracts, black women have had to work extremely hard to obtain their entrepreneurial goals. Despite the challenges, the women before us and the women today have not let that stop them from becoming one of the fastest- growing segments of entrepreneurs in the country. Women-owned businesses are growing in record numbers. Between 2014 too 2019, the annual growth rate of women-owned businesses is double that of all businesses. Moreover, women of color have been at the forefront of driving this trend. As of 2019, women of color account for 50%of all women-owned businesses. (AMEX State of Women-Owned Business Report)Join us Monday, November 23rd at 6:00 p.m, as we elevate a much needed conversation on Women Creating Wealth: An Intergenerational Conversation with our special guests, Jordan Hora, Founder JH Collaborative, Akwete Tyehimba Founder of Pan-African Connection Bookstore, and Keisha Whaley of Brass Tacks Collective. We'll explore the evolution of women in business over the generations and offer tangible solutions to how we move forward as a community. (More speakers to be announced!)
