Event Description

Nakumbuka Day was adopted as a Day of Remembrance to think about African-descended persons around the world who endured “war” or attacks upon their lives, families, and homeland. November 11th was selected for Nakumbuka Day, coinciding with Veterans Day in the United States, when soldiers are honored. This is a time for honoring the soldiers of our community who have historically gone unrecognized and erased from the narratives of celebration. This year, we are holding a virtual gathering to honor this day and its purpose. Join us for a time of meditation, storytelling, fellowship and libations! Make sure you’ve got elements with you and ready to go as it is sure to be a time of liberation and healing!*This is a time and space of intentional healing for BIPOC. We welcome all allies who stand in solidarity with our need to heal with each intimately and privately to share donations in support of this work. We thank you for supporting our efforts in ways that are most helpful to us.*
