About the event organizer
The Delaware Genealogical Society was organized under the auspices of the Historical Society of Delaware in October 1977. DGS is a nonprofit volunteer organization that encourages and supports genealogical research through educational programs, workshops and publications. Over the past 40 years, the society has presented more than 200 events, as well as published more than 70 journals and nearly 200 newsletters. At its first meeting in 1977, Ms. Elizabeth Moyne described research at the Hall of Records (now the Delaware Archives) in Dover. Forty years later, DGS programs include topics such as the use and analysis of DNA testing in genealogy and resources for online genealogical research, reflecting significant developments in genealogical methods.
