Pandemic Parenting Strategies is a forum created for African American/Black parents to meet with a behavior/mental health practitioner to discuss the impact of COVID-19, racism and virtual learning plans. Explore practical solutions to support Black children, while preparing them for the world they will one day inherit. Most importantly we will identify resources and networks to help manage our own emotional and mental stress. About your Host:Taharka Sankara holds a Masters of Social Work degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. He is licensed in the State of New Jersey in the fields of Social Work and Alcohol and Drug Counseling. Counseling experience spans across various treatment modalities with diverse populations. Many years spent counseling adolescent and adult males with addictive and criminal behaviors in individual, group and family sessions to address the underlying issues of trauma, substance abuse and other co-occurring behavior and mental health disorders. He works primarily from a solution-focused, strengths-based, client-centered framework.This event is sponsored by Counseling Support Services, LLC a behavioral and mental health care organization. We provide individual, group and family therapy for a wide range of clinical disorders, including substance abuse counseling.
