Greetings All,Dancing Cy(i)phers, Elwah Movement, Ebonie Barnett, and Dimensions Dance Theater hope you all well and are staying safe during this time. As promised, we are offering an online series of classes that offer an embodied experience of the cosmologies, techniques and dances discussed in the Back to the Root event in July 2020. Latanya d. Tigneru00a0has performed professionally with Dimensions Dance Theater since 1986, and has studied and toured nationally and internationally, performing multidisciplinary works rooted in African diasporic dance forms.u00a0Ms. Tigner holds a B.A. in Physical Education/Dance, a Masteru2019s Degree in Arts Administration, directs Dimensionsu2019 youth company, and teaches at UC Berkeley.u00a0 She has worked with numerous choreographers and dance companies, including Kendra Kimbrough Dance Ensemble, Art of Ballet, Robert Henry Johnson, El Wah Movement, Housinu2019 Authority, RaRa Tou Limen, Fua Dia Congo, Urban Bush Women (SLI), Kiandanda Dance Theater, Soul Nubianu2019s Global Street Dance, and many more. Ms. Tigner has created commissioned works for Dimensions Dance Theater, Black Choreographers Festival, Robert Mosesu2019 Kin, and has presented work in the San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival, Cuba Caribe, and Mabina Dance Festival (Congo-Brazzaille). u00a0She has also set choreography for Cal Shakes' production ofu00a0black odyssey, SF Shakespeare's production ofu00a0A Winteru2019s Tale,u00a0Ubuntu Theater's production ofu00a0Dance of the Holy Ghost,u00a0Delina Brooks'u00a0An Open Love Letter to Black Fathers,u00a0Contra Costa College's productions ofu00a0In the Blood, For Colored Girls, andu00a0Godspell,u00a0and Li Smith's production ofu00a0Purlie Victorious.u00a0Ms.Tigneru2019s current research and study include New Orleans Second Line parading traditions, traditional dances from the Kongo Kingdom, and African dance retention in various African American social dances. u00a0She recently acceptedu00a0the opportunity to be the first Artist in Residence at Mills College's newly renovated Lisser Hall. Latanya honors her position as co-artistic director of the Sanu00a0Franciscou00a0Ethnic Dance Festival the a second season along sideu00a0Mu0101healani Uchiyamau00a0and Patrick Makuakane.u00a0
