Guidelines
At Afrikagora.com, there are strict rules to guide the way of communication among members. Our goal is to groom and nurture each other in whatever destination we are and at such; anything that opposes this goal is deemed inappropriate and may attract some penalties. Therefore, we at Afrikagora.com implore every member to abide by the community guidelines in order to develop an environment where people can safely meet, inspire, and help each other.All members of Afrikagora.com are free to interact as and when due if these interactions do not violate any of the following community guidelines.
Language
Afrikagora.com is an international community seeing to the needs of Africans in diaspora. Most of these African countries do not have the same local language but may have the same or similar lingua franca, which is English. Therefore, it is expected that every member must interact in English language while discussing in a public forum, to avoid any misunderstanding. That notwithstanding, Afrikagora.com will in no way discourage you from speaking your native language; and for that fact, you are allowed to create a private language-specific group away from the public forum.
Boundaries
Afrikagora.com is a socio-business community with the aim of creating a platform for a member to network and relate with like-minded people. Anything outside of this will be considered a violation of privacy. Afrikagora.com is made of people of different social, religious, and cultural background. Therefore, it is advised that members treat one another with respect regarding these differences.
Members are also advised not to hesitate to report any member that violates their privacy or disrespects them. Privacy violation and disrespect is a major opposition to the aim of Afrikagora.com and defaulters will be dealt with severely. Please be warned.
Spam
Irrelevant and inappropriate content in the form of spam will not be tolerated in Afrikagora.com. It is against the rules of this community and if any member that violates this rule will be dealt with appropriately. You must not send a particular message to several recipients; usually for the purpose of creating awareness. Such contents are viewed as unfriendly, and unsolicited. There is a due process for any form of awareness creation in the form of commercials or promotions. Any members that wish to create such awareness should contact Afrikagora.com moderators for proper guidelines on what to do.
Honesty
If you really wish to connect with people on Afrikagora.com, you have to come as you are and you will be welcomed. There is no need to use a fake account and fake pictures. Your profile must have your real name, real pictures, and real information. Fake or falsified accounts will not be tolerated as it is viewed as dishonesty and is totally against the aim of Afrikagora.com. Violation of any of these rules may result in a temporal or permanent deactivation of your account with Afrikagora.com. We really do not want to see you go and so we hope you will not force it on us.
Offline Relationships
There is so much Afrikagora.com can do to ensure your safety but that can only be done online while you are virtually within our jurisdiction. Whatever offline relationship you might develop with anyone you meet on Afrikagora.com is beyond our control and entirely up to you. We take great care to ensure that we do not harbor bad eggs, but the complacency of that is limited on our side. You have to be careful and use your instincts when meeting with people offline for the first time.
Here are some things you should be aware of
Beware of online promises that are too good to be true because in most cases, they are often scammers. As you conduct offline businesses with members you probably met online, be careful and ensure you follow due process. If you are not sure what the due process is, contact us to help you out to avoid being scammed.
There is a difference between meeting a person online and meeting the same person offline. If you met this person online for the first time, you might be friends online but for all intent, the person is still a stranger to you. So, if for any reason, you have to meet with a member of Afrikagora.com offline, be sure to meet in public places, or better go with someone to meet this person in a public place; emphasis on “public place”.
In all that you do, use your intuitions and always apply caution. Respect members online and offline; and always strive to get the best out of Afrikagora.com.
