This Community Reconvening follows the September 2018 Community Convening to report out the findings of the small workgroups assembled over the course of the past year, which discussed improvements in School Systems and Climate; Parent Empowerment; Amplifying Student Voice, and Community Engagement. We invite school leaders, teachers, parents, students, and community members concerned with improving academic outcomes for African American students in Fresno County pre-K through 12 to join the conversation. We recognize that there are experiences, assets, and challenges that are unique to our African American youth and families and through honest, candid and compassionate dialogue, we will begin to build a bridge toward understanding and improved outcomes for our youth. Thank you for your interest in attending the “African American Student Excellence: A Community Reconvening” event.
Breakfast will be available at 7:00 AM and the program will begin promptly at 7:30 AM. Attendees will participate in welcoming the students of the African American Student Leadership Conference and the keynote speaker from 9:00 AM - 10:25 AM.
